The purpose of the PHQ-2 is not to establish final a diagnosis or to monitor depression severity, but rather to screen for depression in a first step approach.

PHQ-9 Overview

The PHQ-9 is a multipurpose instrument for screening, diagnosing, monitoring and measuring the severity of depression.

The PHQ-9 incorporates DSM-IV depression diagnostic criteria with other leading major depressive symptoms into a brief self-report tool.

PHQ9A Overview

The patient health questionnaire is based on DSM-IV diagnostic criteria and has been validated in primary care, obstetrics and gynecological patient populations. A shorter version of the PHQ-9 is useful in research settings and is also discussed in the article.

As PHQ-9 depression severity increased, there was a substantial decrease in functional status on all 6 SF-20 subscales. Also, symptom-related difficulty, sick days, and health care utilization increased.

GAD7 Screening
